Periodontics
Mission
The mission of the Department of Periodontics is to train undergraduate students to diagnose and detect periodontal diseases,prevent its spread and to be able to initiate therapy for patients affected by these widespread diseases.
The didactic lectures in Periodontics are carried out over a period of two years wherein the students begin by understanding the morphology and histology of the periodontium,the etiology of periodontal disease,periodontal pathology and it’s management.Periodontics lectures also include various surgical and non surgical therapy,the interrelationship between good oral and overall health with a healthy periodontium. The students are expected to keep detailed record in a logbook of cases treated or assisted and observed. The basic principles of the discipline including asepsis ,sterilization protocol,scaling,root planning and polishing along with proper oral hygiene instructions and education and motivation of patients are taught to students by clinical discussions and demonstrations,followed by institution
OBJECTIVE OF PG TRAINING PROGRAM
The objective of the department is to train a candidate such that he/she attains high degree of clinical proficiency,competence in research and in teaching , and acquire the experience to carry out research projects, to critically evaluate scientific publications and to communicate clinical and research papers in journals and conferences.
- The Basic Medical Sciences will be integrated in the teaching programme.
- The students are expected to keep detailed record in a logbook of cases treated or assisted.
